What You Need to Know About ETA-IL
At Soar Tours, we believe that traveling to Israel is more than just a trip – it’s a spiritual experience. As you prepare to walk where Jesus walked and witness the promises of God in the land of the Bible, we want to make sure every part of your journey is seamless, including your entry into the country.
One important requirement for visa-exempt travelers (like South Africa) visiting Israel is the ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization – Israel). If you’re wondering what this is and whether it applies to you, here’s a simple guide to help you navigate it.
✈️ What is ETA-IL?
The ETA-IL is Israel’s new online travel authorization system, designed for visitors from visa-exempt countries. Similar to the U.S. ESTA or Canada’s eTA, it enhances border security while making the entry process smoother and more efficient.
This is not a visa, but you do need to apply for an ETA-IL online before your trip.
🤔 Who Needs to Apply?
If you’re traveling to Israel for:
- Tourism (like our spiritually enriching Soar Tours),
- Business, or
- Transit purposes,
…and you hold a passport from a visa-exempt country (like South Africa), then you’ll need to complete the ETA-IL process prior to arrival.
💰How much does it cost?
25 Israeli Shekels or about R 125.00 (One Hundred and Twenty-five Rands)
📝 How to Apply
The application is quick and straightforward:
- Visit the official ETA-IL website.
- Specify Visit for Tourism.
- How long are you planning to stay in Israel – Select Up to 14 Days.
- South African Passports are Biometric.
- Fill in your personal details.
- Pay the processing fee.
- Wait for confirmation – approval usually comes within a few hours or days.
We recommend applying at least a few weeks before your departure to avoid any last-minute complications.
⏳ How Long Is It Valid?
Once approved, the ETA-IL is typically valid for multiple entries over a set period (typically 2 years) – so if you’re planning to return for future visits or spiritual pilgrimages, it will still be valid (as long as your passport remains valid).
🙏 Why This Matters for Your Journey
As part of our mission to help you walk in His footsteps, we want to ensure your focus remains on the divine encounters awaiting you in the Holy Land – not paperwork. The ETA-IL makes your arrival easier, safer, and more streamlined, allowing you to start your sacred journey without delay.
